For the safety and protection of the public, private hire operators in Brentwood must have a licence issued by us. The licence permits you to advertise and accept bookings for private hire work.
If you intend to take bookings from an operating base outside Brentwood, you must apply for an operator's licence from the appropriate local council. You can only use vehicles and drivers who are licensed by the same local council who issue the operator's licence.
To apply for an operator's licence, you must have a Brentwood home or business address.
Licences are usually issued for a five year duration.
You can check whether a hackney carriage or private hire driver is licensed with us by visiting Public Access.
