We're pleased to announce that the National Best Bar None Scheme is launching across the Borough of Brentwood. The current assessment window is open from now until 31 January 2025.
About the Best Bar None Scheme
Best Bar None is a national Home Office supported accreditation scheme recognising responsible licensing practice in line with the four core licensing objectives:
- venue management - assesses security measures and steps taken to reduce noise, litter and other effects the business may have
- staff training and care - considers how staff are supported by the business to perform their role, develop and grow, and to protect their wellbeing
- customer safety and welfare - reviews how well the venue takes care of its customers including preventing alcohol being sold to those under 18
- customer service and community - recognises that businesses work hard to provide a warm welcome to their customers and the communities they are part of
Who can apply
Brentwood's Best Bar None scheme is open to any Licensed premises across the whole Borough of Brentwood that are permitted to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises. This includes, but is not limited to, Pubs, Bars, Clubs and Restaurants.
Cost
It’s free for anyone in Brentwood to apply. We got funding from the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex to make this free for all to apply.
How to apply
You will need to complete the online application form and put together all your policies, procedures, risk assessments, records and other documentation ready for a visit by an assessor.
After your application has been submitted, your assessment visit may take up to 4 hours to complete. You will be contacted by one of the team to arrange the visit.
Awards process
The process of becoming recognised by BBN includes meeting minimum standards following assessment by a Best Bar None Assessor. The process ends with an invite to go to an awards event. You will also receive a certificate and material to be displayed and used on websites and social media to promote your accreditation.
