Brentwood Borough Council’s much loved annual Strawberry Fair was back last weekend with a sporting twist.

Thousands of people headed to King George’s Playing Fields on Sunday afternoon (9 June) for the Strawberry Sports Festival, a free to enter community event aimed at families.

The day featured a jam-packed schedule of entertainment, including performances by Razzamataz Theatre School and Stagecoach Performing Arts Brentwood.

Children and adults enjoyed a variety of free sports activities, exciting rides and the classic Punch and Judy show. There were free family activities, as well as an array of food and drink options available for purchase, including the must have strawberries, Pimms and local beer.

Thank you to our sponsors Razzamataz Theatre School Brentwood and Stagecoach Performing Arts Brentwood for providing dance workshops, Solar Armour Limited for hosting a stand with family-friendly activities and Bennetts Funerals for bringing the Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Mark Haigh, to the festival in their horse and carriage.

Following the festival, the Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Mark Haigh, said: “It was great to see so many families smiling and having fun trying out some sports they may not have done before. Community events like these are what make living in our Borough special and I would like to thank all the sports and community organisations, along with our sponsors – who helped make the event happen and so successful.”
