The Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Mark Haigh, invites all school-aged children in the Brentwood borough to join this year’s Christmas celebrations by participating in the Mayor’s Christmas card design and Christmas poetry competition.
This festive season, children are encouraged to express their creativity through art and poetry. For the Christmas card design competition, students are asked to create a festive illustration on A4 paper, in a portrait format, showcasing their vision of Christmas. Please avoid using materials like cotton wool or glitter on the Christmas card, as designs must be easy to reproduce.
In addition, children are invited to compose a Christmas-themed poem titled ‘My Christmas Wish’, using no more than 200 words. The winning poem will be featured on this year’s official Mayor’s Christmas card.
The winners of both the card design and poetry competition will receive a prize and a special invitation to join the Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Mark Haigh, on the main stage at the Lighting Up Brentwood event on Saturday, 23 November. Winners will have the honour of helping switch on the Christmas lights in Brentwood High Street.
Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Mark Haigh, said: “This competition is a wonderful way for our young residents to express their creativity and holiday spirit. We look forward to seeing their inspiring designs and heartfelt words as they help make this festive season truly special.”
