We have a flexible leaf clearing programme which can be adjusted to when and where accumulations of leaves occur.
Throughout October, November and December, we deploy teams dedicated to clearing leaves, using both mechanised and manual sweepers. These teams are directed to the roads most in need of cleansing following a condition inspection.
Priority is given to:
- busy footpaths, such as Town Centres and around schools
- roads and footpaths with many mature trees
- areas which are prone to flooding
- areas where leaves have broken down into detritus
Where locations cannot be visited in a reasonable time by the dedicated leaf clearance teams, leaves will be removed as part of our normal street cleaning operations.
During this very busy period we're asking residents to be mindful that, even on leafing schedule, the areas may not remain leaf free at all times. This is due to the nature of leaf fall at peak times and a road that's cleared of leaves in the morning can be entirely covered in leaves again within hours.
You can report fallen leaves that are a potential safety issue to us, and we will arrange for the area to be inspected and the appropriate action taken as quickly as possible.
