Fraud - help us stamp it out!

You can also report your information by completing the on-line form Report Housing Fraud

All information received will be treated in the strictest confidence and you do not have to supply your name and address

It is estimated that thousands of properties nationwide are unavailable each year to Council and Housing Association Tenants because of fraud. We have a dedicated team of investigators who are determined to stamp it out. 

What is Housing Fraud?

  • Trying to obtain a property fraudulently e.g. by giving us false information or failing to disclose information on the application form.
  • Unlawful sub-letting - When a tenant rents out their home without the knowledge or permission of the Council / Housing Association. Subletting is a criminal offence.
  • Key Selling – Keys to the property ‘sold’ for a one-off payment
  • Right to Buy Fraud - purchasing a property from us by using false information.

We carry out a number of checks against details supplied to us, including with external agencies. If people commit fraud, we will find them out!
