What is Housing Fraud?
- Trying to obtain a property fraudulently e.g. by giving us false information or failing to disclose information on the application form.
- Unlawful sub-letting - When a tenant rents out their home without the knowledge or permission of the Council / Housing Association. Subletting is a criminal offence.
- Key Selling – Keys to the property ‘sold’ for a one-off payment
- Right to Buy Fraud - purchasing a property from us by using false information.
We carry out a number of checks against details supplied to us, including with external agencies. If people commit fraud, we will find them out!
